| What is your return Policy? We refund all items bought in the store if returned within two weeks along with a sales receipt. (Items must be in original carton and not have been installed.) Special order items are not returnable and deposits are not refundable. There is a 50% deposit on special orders over $25, and orders under $25 must be paid in full. |
| What methods of payment do you accept? We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, personal checks, cash, money orders and travelers checks. We also offer gift certificates. |
| What are your store hours? We are open Monday through Saturday from 10am until 5:30pm and Sunday from 12pm until 4pm. We are closed Sundays during the summer. Please contact us regarding certain Holidays on which we may not be open. |
| What is your warranty on the products that you sell? Most products are warranteed for one year from the date of purchase with the proper receipt. Some products may be warranteed for longer. Please contact us with any specific warranty questions. |
| What is the right amount of wattage needed for my room size? Divide the square footage by 1.5 to get the amount of wattage recommended. Example... a 18x20 room is 360 square feet which would then be divided by 1.5 which equals 240 watts of light. |
| Which size chandelier should I be looking for? The most common concern when selecting a chandelier is size. For a dining room or kitchen, the proper size should relate to the size of your table. The chandelier should be from 1/2 to 3/4 the width of your table. The bottom of the chandelier should hang 30 inches above the top of the table. If there will be foot traffic under the chandelier, we recommend at least 78 inches of clearance from the floor to the bottom of the chandelier. |
| Which size outdoor fixture and post should I choose? All outdoor fixtures will appear half the size when 50 feet away than they do up close. So if in doubt, go larger. A post light is best placed by the driveway near the road. The length of your driveway should then determine if you need any additional post lights. 100 to 125 foot intervals between post lights are recommended for long driveways. When hanging a fixture on each side of your door, it should be spaced 1/2 the length of the door. When selecting a post, we recommend a minimum of 6-8 feet above ground. |
| What is the difference between 120v and 12v landscape lighting? 12 Volt systems are easier to install and are safer for children and pets. With 120 Volt systems, the wires must be covered underground due to safety. In a 12 Volt system, if a wire is cut or chewed it is safe. |
| How high should I install my wall sconces? Wall Sconces should be about 60 inches from the floor. They should also be placed around 9-10 feet apart in |
| General Lighting Tips |
| 1. Consider where you are going to put the light as well as the surfaces under and around it. What effect will the reflected light have? 2. Avoid strong contrasts, which can be hard on the eyes. Try to combine different types of lighting in the same room. Direct lighting for certain tasks such as reading, highlighting paintings or objects. Washes of light on the wall help add atmosphere. Always consider a dimmer wherever possible, as this will allow you to set the mood for the room and create task lighting when needed. 3. Consider how dark your walls are. Darker tones will need more light since much of it will be absorbed- while lighter shades will reflect the light 4. Always place lights at a height which prevents the eye from seeing the bulb directly whenever possible, this will reduce glare. If a bulb is visible, use a frosted bulb which will tone down the glare. |
